In a moment of crisis.

What values guide us collectively? What virtues guide our individual actions?

What we need now is courage.

Our words and actions tell the world what we value and shout our virtues.

During much of the history-making events of the past several years (and especially today), this version of the Serenity Prayer reminds me to keep wisdom, courage, and calm within reach. To choose my words wisely and to make my philosophy about ‘works not words’ as Seneca says.

Have I done enough?

Maybe I’m not the only one thinking this today.

May I find the serenity to accept the things I can not change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.
