Grieving for normal.

There will never be business as usual. We will never go back to normal. We are all grieving for normal.

If you thought you were going to turn the page on your calendar and have a fresh new start. Think again. Everything that has happened in 2020 and the unfathomable first week of 2021 has changed us.

It has changed every individual hanging on this rock.

Grieving for normal.

And we each are grieving. Grieving for normal. Grieving for the future we had envisioned for ourselves.

That’s not to say we can’t have hope.

For those who have made it this far – congratulations – you survived. And I sincerely hope that you are stronger than you were a year ago, even if it doesn’t feel that way right now.

But not is not the time to relax.

Now is the time to look clearly around you to see reality. And with that clarity, develop a plan for yourself and your business to move forward.

Start with this: everything will change.

Even with a solid plan, fate will laugh at you and throw you a curve ball.  So how do we stay resilient? By standing firm in defense of our values and our purpose.

As individuals and business owners, our character must guide our actions.

You may not know exactly what the future holds, but firmly grounded in your values and purpose – decisions of what to do and when will be much easier.

This is the only thing you have control over.

Yes, plan – we must plan and follow that plan. Until change happens. Then consult your values to decide how to change your plan.

The only thing that makes life possible is permanent, intolerable uncertainty; not knowing what comes next.
